INSWARM began in 2007 by Fade Kainer and Josh Lozano following the breakup of Kainer's previous project STILL LIFE DECAY;  which released The Drown EP (2002), followed by the full-length album, Storm & Stress (2004), The album features guest vocals by Burton C. Bell of FEAR FACTORY and includes a remix by TERRORFAKT.  Their third release, Parasitic (2006), echoes themes of isolation, misanthropy, addiction and apathy.  It would be the last album released under the name Still Life Decay.

INSWARM create music that they describe as the combination of haunting atmospheres, harsh synthetic machinery, sludgy and melancholic guitars, with dispirited vocals over tribal drumming and pulsing mechanized beats. Others have called them, "a big grinding broody menacing anthem of sound," and, "claustrophobic industrial metal."  INSWARM released the Severed EP in 2007.

"They've managed to package together slick, industrial drum machine patterns, eerie goth synth effects, and crunching metal riffs into a suped up sonic assault that could be pleasing to most anyone who appreciates hard music."
